Dr. Ahmad Balal

Dr. Ahmad Balal is the Consul General of Pakistan to Hong Kong. He belongs to the District Management Group which is the elite administrative service of Pakistan.

He was educated at the King Edward Medical College, the University of the Punjab and the Government College University. During this he acquired a Degree in the Medicine and three Post-Graduate Degrees in Economics. His first job was with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).

Dr. Balal joined the Government of Pakistan in 1987 as Assistant Commissioner. During the early years of his career, he served as Assistant Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner and Deputy Secretary in various Districts and Departments. In year 2001 he was Secretary, Workers Welfare Board after which he served the Government in the Industries, Health, Education, Transport and Procurement Departments. In 2006 joined Planning and Development Department as Member planning and Development after which he served as Special Secretary for Health till his Posting in Hong Kong as Consul General.

Dr. Balal has written research papers on Economics and Theology. He is also an Artist and has held exhibition of his paintings. Writing and drawing are his main hobbies.
